RSL-AZ West Valley Soccer Club is dedicated to providing a complete and inclusive soccer experience for youth players throughout the West Valley of Phoenix. As part of the Real Salt Lake Arizona network, the club is committed to developing players both on and off the field while offering a clear pathway from introductory soccer to elite competition.
Our club is built on the belief that soccer should be accessible to everyone, offering both competitive and recreational programs for players of all ages and skill levels. With licensed coaches and a proven development curriculum, we create an environment where athletes can grow technically, tactically, physically, and mentally.
RSL-AZ West Valley provides a structured development pathway beginning at the earliest ages and extending to elite levels of play. The club emphasizes a player-centric approach designed to help each athlete reach their full potential while preparing them for opportunities in high school, collegiate, and even professional soccer.
Through partnerships, elite training opportunities, and integration within the RSL-AZ system, players in the West Valley have access to enhanced development platforms and pathways to higher levels of competition.

Glen Butler brings over 20 years of elite coaching, leadership, and player development experience to the role of Technical Director, combining world-class education with proven results across youth, collegiate, and high-performance environments.
A highly credentialed professional, Glen holds UEFA B License, FA Goalkeeping Level 3, USC Level 2 Goalkeeping, and is certified in the TOVO Pro Methodology, reflecting a modern, progressive approach to player development and training design. His expertise spans technical development, tactical education, physical performance, and long-term athlete development models.
Academically, Glen’s background is equally distinguished, holding a BSc in Physical Education & Sport Science, MBA in Sports Marketing, MSc in Sports Performance, and a Master of Education (MEd), providing a rare blend of coaching excellence, sports science knowledge, and organizational leadership.
He is also certified in NCSA (CSCS) strength & conditioning, PFSA Level 2 Talent Identification & Performance Analysis, and has extensive experience in performance monitoring, scouting, and player pathway design.
Glen has achieved exceptional competitive success, including 15 State Championships, and has coached at all collegiate levels, developing athletes who advance to high-level academic and athletic opportunities. He currently serves as the Head Coach of Benedictine University Mesa Women’s Soccer, where he continues to lead high-performance programming and athlete development at the collegiate level.
As Technical Director, Glen Butler provides strategic vision, coach education leadership, curriculum development, and a unified club playing philosophy—creating a complete pathway for player growth from grassroots to elite competition, while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and long-term development.
Brett Bentley brings extensive collegiate, professional, and youth development experience to his role as Director of Coaches at RSL-AZ West Valley. With nearly two decades in the game, he has built a reputation for developing players, mentoring coaches, and creating high-performance environments that foster both competitive success and personal growth.
Brett currently serves as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Ottawa University in Surprise, where he leads all aspects of the NAIA Division I program. Under his leadership, the 2024 team achieved a Top-25 national ranking and maintained a national ranking for eight consecutive weeks.
In addition, he is an adjunct faculty member at Grand Canyon University, where he teaches coaching and exercise science and contributes to coaching curriculum development.
At the club level, Brett directs coaching education, staff development, and player pathway initiatives, helping ensure a consistent, player-centered development model across all teams. He also serves as head coach of Phoenix Heat FC’s Women’s Premier Soccer League team, where he oversees roster development, tactical implementation, and program promotion.
Prior to returning to the Valley, Brett held leadership roles across NCAA, NAIA, and professional environments, including Director of Girls Soccer and head women’s professional team coach at FC Arizona, Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Adams State University, and Director of Soccer at Bushnell University. Throughout his career, his programs have achieved national rankings, record-breaking seasons, and landmark victories over top-ranked opponents.
Brett holds a Master of Science in Recreation & Sport Science (Coaching Soccer) from Ohio University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Applied Psychology in Performance at Grand Canyon University, focusing on transformational leadership and athlete motivation.
He also holds a United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma, an American Sports Education Certification and a U.S. Soccer National B License.
Passionate about leadership, education, and long-term athlete development, Brett is committed to helping coaches grow, players thrive, and the club continue building a positive soccer culture within the West Valley community.
